
On top of scanning — the current status of intraoral digitalization?
Intraoral scanning currently gains enormous interest and enthusiasm. On the other hand practitioners around the world are in brisk discussion on the performance and potential of these digitalization systems. The lecture tries to summarize the current scientific status, displays possible clinical applications, advantages and limitations and dares a look ahead.
Intraoral scanning is the logical access point to the more and more connected digital dental workflow and currently gains enormous interest and enthusiasm. On the other hand practitioners around the world wonder about the performance and potential of these digitalization systems. Especially regarding the accuracy of the specific systems, the suitability for daily use of the connected workflows, their field of indication and how the systems can be integrated into the own office and the individual daily routine. The lecture discusses the current status of different digital impression systems and compares them to what we do today - from a scientific point of view and with focus on practical clinical orientation – today and tomorrow.
